Inaugural meeting, Edinburgh, 2004: ‘Progressing from didactic teaching’

Sponsored by LTSN-01 (Learning & Teaching Support Network for Medicine, Dentistry & Veterinary Medicine)

ViEW’s inaugural meeting took place in Edinburgh in September 2004, and formed part of the annual Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) meeting.

Participants and presenters came from veterinary schools in the UK, Eire, Canada, USA, Netherlands and Switzerland, and UK veterinary organisations including the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), Diverse, and the SPVS Masters group were represented.

The framework and theme for the day was set by Dr Marilyn Hammick, an education and research consultant from the Centre for the Advancement of Interprofessional Education, who emphasised the importance of critical analysis of evidence when considering the value of new educational strategies.
